What

Psycheteria was created as an educational site for psychiatry residents at UCLA. The basic idea was much as a cafeteria: take what you want and leave the rest behind. That way your brain never gets full and you don't feel empty when you need practical information.

Psycheteria is biologically oriented. This in no way implies that psychotherapy is ineffective or less preferred in certain situations. It only means that this site targets psychopharmacological interventions.

Although Psycheteria was conceived to cater to issues in medical psychiatry, it is relevant to inpatient, outpatient, and other sorts of psychiatry (use your imagination).

How to use

Feel free to jump around and go to different sections of the menu. There are many links to other areas of the site, scientific publications, and other websites. If you want to find a table quickly, they are all listed in the express section. ★'s mark important tips or facts throughout Psycheteria.

Unusual links

Origin

Every effort was made to ensure the information is accurate and doesn't just reflect the opinions and accurate predilictions of the creator of Psycheteria, but no web site can really be a substitute for sound judgment and independent pursuit of knowledge. So if you use the information here, you are on your own. Psycheteria was derived from many sources, but owes exceptional debt to:

Clinical Manual of Psychosomatic Medicine

Manual of Psychiatric Care for the Medically Ill

Textbook of Psychosomatic Medicine

If you find any errors, please contact the creator using the Who menu on the left.
